Three Options to do this:
1. Save All Future Photos as JPEG
This setting ensures any new photos you take are saved in the widely compatible JPEG format instead of HEIC.
- Open the Settings app on your iPad.
- Scroll down and tap Camera.
- Tap Formats at the top.
- Select Most Compatible (this switches capture from High Efficiency/HEIC to JPEG).
2. Automatically Convert During Transfers
If you prefer to keep using HEIC on your iPad to save storage space but want JPEGs on your computer, you can enable automatic conversion during the transfer process.
- Go to Settings > Photos.
- Scroll to the bottom to the Transfer to Mac or PC section.
- Select Automatic.
- Your iPad will now automatically convert HEIC files to JPEGs when you move them to a PC or Mac.
3. Convert Existing HEIC Photos on Your iPad
For photos you have already taken, you can manually convert them to JPEG directly on your iPad before emailing them.
- The "Copy-Paste" Method:
- Open Photos and select the image.
- Tap the Share icon and select Copy Photo.
- Open the Files app and go to any folder (e.g., "On My iPad").
- Tap and hold in an empty space and select Paste. The file will automatically save as a JPEG.
