Connecting to a Remote Desktop via the DC and Command Prompt
If you’re already remotely connected to a domain controller (DC) via AnyConnect or ISL, and Quick Assist or TeamViewer may not be feasible due to the user’s lack of technical expertise, this is a good option.
- Open CMD
- Type in command: qwinsta /server:pc-xxx-xxx
- Once you see the username of the person you’re dealing with, look at their ID number on the right of it. (should have Active next to it)
- Next, type in mstsc /v:pc-xxx-xxx /control /shadow:xx (where xx is the user's ID)
- They’re going to receive a prompt asking them to allow you to remote in; they just need to hit ‘Yes’
